On Tuesday, December 12, Local 871 and the IATSE were certified as the bargaining representative for Script Coordinators and Writers' Assistants. This victory follows a year of outreach and organizing among those working in these job classifications. This victory means that people working in these classifications will have access to healthcare, contributions to retirement plans, and union representation. The Agreement covers those working on most television shows produced by the major studios. We will now be reaching out to all other employers asking that they recognize us as the union representing these employees, and that they sign on to the negotiated agreement.
The negotiated Agreement will go into effect in February, and the Local will be welcoming over 400 new members in 2018!
